This clause requires the organisation to monitor, measure, analyse and evaluate the performance of the AI management system through internal audits and management review. Clause 9.1 on monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation is covered within the clause itself.
ISO 42001 Clause 9 - Performance Evaluation
Clause 9 tests whether the AI management system is doing what it is designed to do. The organisation must monitor and measure performance, audit the management system internally, and have top management review the management system at planned intervals. The two sub-clauses covered in their own articles are below.
Sub-clauses of ISO 42001 Clause 9
Clause 9.2 - Internal Audit requires the organisation to conduct internal audits of the AI management system at planned intervals to provide information on whether the management system conforms to its own requirements and the requirements of the standard, and is effectively implemented and maintained.
Clause 9.3 - Management Review requires top management to review the AI management system at planned intervals to make sure of its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
