Our Health and Safety updates have always had a natural home, but plenty of important topics never fitted there: environmental compliance, information security developments, wider business risk. Business Health and Compliance is the new monthly update service we have set up to give those topics a home of their own, running alongside the H&S updates and written for the same people: quality managers, consultants, business owners and auditors.
What the Business Health and Compliance Update Covers
The Business Health and Compliance updates cover business risk or compliance topics and, like our H&S updates, provide guidance as well as practical solutions: what the risk is, why it matters, and the controls that keep it in check, including links to resources you can use to develop the controls.
The series launches with the use of AI, a question more and more organisations are being asked about by their customers and trading partners. The topics planned across the following months are:
- Information security
- Data protection and privacy
- Phishing and social engineering
- Environmental compliance and sustainability
- Fraud and financial crime
- Use of social media
- Modern slavery and supply chain
- Harassment, discrimination and equality
- Third party and outsourcing
- Governance and regulatory compliance
- Business continuity and resilience
Each update is emailed to subscribers and saved as a PDF in the Update Service folder, ready to read, share with colleagues, or use as the basis for a short briefing.
How to Get the Business Health and Compliance Update
The Business Health and Compliance update is part of the update service included with an alphaZ subscription (this is also free to companies certified by isoassured). Existing subscribers can opt in by ticking the Business Health and Compliance preference on their profile (click on the preferences link in any update service email), and the updates then arrive automatically each month.
Business Risk Assessments for Business Health and Compliance
Regular readers will know what we always say comes first, so it will be no surprise that we built the new service by starting with the risk assessments. The result is a new Business Risk Assessments category in alphaZ documents, with 32 ready-made examples covering the same topics the updates address, from information security and data protection to fraud, supply chain and the use of AI. Each one shows how to identify a risk, rate it and bring it under control, so you start from a worked example rather than a blank page. You can read more in our recent document update on the new category.
While preparing the examples we also built a set of business risk icons and released them free for anyone to use. There is more on those, and where to download them, in our blog on the new business risk icons.
