Emergency lighting

Update Details: Three new files have been added to assist with the management of Emergency Lighting.

If you are responsible for premises where emergency lighting is installed you will have various responsibilities to ensure this emergency equipment is maintained and tested to ensure it is fully functional when required in an emergency situation.

Emergency lighting requirements may change over time so ongoing review of what is in place to ensure it is adequate for the premises and consistent with emergency plans should be completed. Installed lighting units should also be tested to ensure that fully functional in terms of illumination and also to ensure any battery units are working correctly.

To assist with this we have prepared a new General Guidance document providing an overview of the main considerations relating to management and testing of emergency lighting, an Emergency lighting safety review checklist to prompt various consideration and checks when reviewing emergency lighting and also a form that can be used when completing battery and function testing with installed emergency lights.
